It’s been a crazy three years since HACIEN Tequila first poured onto the scene. Our founders, Jordan and Seb, came up with the idea on a pivotal trip to Mexico. They quickly realised that tequila wasn't just the party spirit often served with a cheesy red hat back home, it was a drink with deep history, tradition and an incredible depth of flavour that wasn't being truly appreciated back home in the UK.
People thought they’d lost their minds when they told them about their plans to create their own tequila! With Seb running a tech business and Jordan in renewable energy, they had zero drinks industry experience (apart from consuming it, of course!).But armed with some serious Yorkshire grit, they weren’t going to back down from the challenge to bring premium tequila to the UK!
The Complex Journey to Jalisco
Starting a spirit brand, especially a tequila, is no small feat. It involves navigating complex issues like duty, importing and the strict industry regulations required to ensure true quality and authenticity.
To be a 100% agave tequila, it must be made and bottled in Mexico. This meant finding the perfect partner in the heart of production. After extensive searching and complex operational planning, the team found an incredible award-winning distillery based in the heart of Jalisco, Mexico.
Working tirelessly, they sampled 18 different liquids before settling on the perfect blend. The result was a tequila they were proud of and happy to put their name against. A premium tequila also deserved a premium design, so they created a bottle inspired by the precise slicing technique of the agave plant used by the Jimadores while harvesting the plant in the agave fields.
Celebrating our Three Year Milestone
Three years on, HACIEN can be found listed at over 450 bars and restaurants across the UK including Michelin starred venues, top hotels and premium retail including Harvey Nichols.
To celebrate this incredible milestone, we threw a party to remember and also unveiled our latest expression, HACIEN Coffee Tequila Blanco.
This latest drop embodies the same commitment to quality, blending our exquisite 100% agave tequila with rich, aromatic coffee notes. It’s perfect for crafting bold cocktails or sipping neat as a luxurious digestif.
